“I was about 10 or 11 and we really didn’t look alike, so I started asking questions and they told me I was adopted and answered all my questions, and that was that,” Aaron told The New York Post’s Kevin Kernan during a March 2015, feature story titled, “‘Blessed’ Yankees prospect elicits Stargell, Stanton comps.” “I was fine with it. It really didn’t bother me because that’s the only parents I’ve known.”

Aaron discovered his adoption story amid questions about why he looked different than his family. Back in 2020, Aaron took to social media to issue an encouraging message to Black men.

Yankees Star Aaron Judge Does Not Have a Relationship With His Biological Parents
The Yankees outfielder was born in Linden, California, and adopted by Wayne and Patty the following day, per Newsday’s Steven Marcus. Aaron does not appear to have a relationship with his biological parents.
While some adopted children yearn to know their biological parents, Judge said ‘that has never’ crossed his mind,” Marcus wrote in a June 13, 2017, story titled, “Yankees’ Aaron Judge excited to play in front of adoptive parents and his friends in California.” “’I can’t really relate to it,’ he said. ‘I have one set of parents, the ones that raised me. That’s how it is.'”

“It’s been off-the-charts fun seeing Aaron play,” Patty told the New York Post at the time. “We’ve tried to make it to the first of this or the first of that. Aaron has a pretty good compass. At a young age, he knew the difference between right or wrong.”
