Former New York Yankees All-Star Issues Heartfelt Message After Departure

On Monday night, the New York Yankees will be in Texas to open up a series with the Rangers.

The Yankees are coming off a series where they won two out of three games against the Houston Astros.

Former Yankee All-Star Issues Heartfelt Message

Before Monday’s game, former Yankees star DJ LeMahieu made a post to Instagram that had over 25,000 likes in two hours.

LeMahieu wrote: “I know it’s been a minute but just want to make sure I say thank you to the @yankees organization, all of the fans and my teammates for my time in New York. I may have been three years shy of being a true “New Yorker,” but New York will forever feel like home. I’m thankful to have been a part of some incredible moments on the field. Hoping for continued success for the boys! – DJ”

LeMahieu is currently a free agent who is available to sign with any team in the MLB.

He finished last season batting .266 with two home runs, 12 RBI’s and 13 runs in 45 games for the Yankees.

The Yankees wrote (via X) on July 10, 2025: “Today, the Yankees released INF DJ LeMahieu from the roster.”

LeMahieu’s MLB Career

LeMahieu was picked in the second round of the 2009 MLB Draft.

He spent one year with the Chicago Cubs before a seven-year stint on the Colorado Rockies.

In Colorado, LeMahieu made two All-Star Games.

The 37-year-old joined the Yankees in 2019, spending seven seasons with the franchise.

LeMahieu made the All-Star Game as a Yankee in 2019.

Over 1,673 career MLB games, he is batting .289 with 126 home runs, 663 RBI’s, 896 runs and 93 stolen bases.
