On Friday night, the Atlanta Braves played the Philadelphia Phillies (at home) for the first game of their series.

The Braves won by a score of 5-3.

Ronald Acuña Jr. led the team with one home run and two walks.

Before Friday’s game, news came out that the Braves have outrighted Ian Hamilton.

Barrett Sallee of 680 The Fan wrote: “The Braves announce that they have outrighted RHP Ian Hamilton to Triple-A Gwinnett”

Hamilton had been designated for assignment earlier in the week.

He has appeared in one game for the Braves this season.

The Braves wrote (via X) on April 22: “The #Braves today recalled RHP Didier Fuentes to Atlanta and designated RHP Ian Hamilton for assignment. Fuentes will start tonight’s game.”

Hamilton’s MLB Career

Hamilton was picked in the 11th round of the 2016 MLB Draft.

He spent the first two seasons of his career playing for the Chicago White Sox before a stop with the Minnesota Twins.

The 30-year-old then had the longest stint of his career (three years) with the New York Yankees.

Over the offseason, Hamilton signed a deal with the Braves.

Came back from severe facial injuries and surgeries after being hit by foul ball in 2019. Had 3.45 ERA & 2.2 bWAR in 110 appearances last 3 seasons w/ Yankees, 152Ks/62 BB in 135 2/3 IP. Hamilton has already spent time in the Minor Leagues (with Gwinnett) this season.

He has gone 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA in five games.

Braves And Yankees Right Now

The Braves are at the top of the National League East with a 19-8 record in 27 games.

They are 10-4 in 14 games at home.

Following the Phillies, the Braves will remain at home to host the Detroit Tigers.
