Earlier in the season, the Yankees optioned Luis Gil to Triple-A.

Ahead of Friday’s series with the Brewers, the organization announced an injury update on the 27-year-old.

Erik Boland of Newsday Sports wrote: “Aaron Boone said Luis Gil was put on the IL with “shoulder inflammation.” Gil won’t throw for at least the next three weeks. Boone said he didn’t believe the inflammation was the reason for Gil’s poor performance in the majors. “It’s new,” Boone said of the inflammation”

Gil’s Career

Gil has spent part of five seasons in the MLB (all with the Yankees).

Before getting sent down, he went 1-2 with a 6.05 ERA in four games this season.

During the 2024 season, Gil won the Rookie of The Year Award, going 15-7 with a 3.50 ERA in 29 games.

While he struggled this year, he is still a player for Yankees fans to keep an eye on.

Gil could either be a key player for the Yankees (again) or used as a trade piece at some point.
