On Thursday afternoon, the New York Yankees lost the final game of their series against the Athletics by a score of 1-0 (at home).
The Yankees (who lost two out of three to the Athletics) are now headed to Tampa Bay for a series with the Rays that starts on Friday.

The Yankees wrote (via X): “Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves: • Recalled RHP Luis Gil (#81) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. • Designated RHP Cade Winquest for assignment.”
Ahead of Friday’s game, the Yankees have made a new roster move.
Via Jon Heyman of New York Post Sports: “Cade Winquest DFA’ed by Yankees. Made the team out of spring but never debuted.”
Winquest is coming off a season where he appeared in 25 Minor League games.
He went 5-7 with a 3.99 ERA.

The Yankees struggled in their final two games against the Athletics, going 17 innings without a run.
That said, they are still the top team in the American League East with an 8-4 record in 12 games.
On the road, the Yankees have gone 5-1 in six games outside of the Bronx.
