On Thursday, the New York Yankees had an off day before their series with the Baltimore Orioles (that starts on Friday).

That said, their Triple-A team (the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders) had a game (at home) that they won 5-4.

George Lombard Jr. finished with one hit, two walks and two runs in his Triple-A debut.

Lombard Jr.’s Background

Lombard Jr. was picked 26th in the 2023 MLB Draft.

He had been batting .312 in Double-A this season.

Minor League Baseball wrote (on April 29): “George Lombard Jr. is headed to Triple-A! The Yankees’ No. 1 prospect is one step from the Bronx.”

It’s safe to say that the Yankees (and their fans) are very excited about the idea of the 20-year-old making his MLB debut later this season.

The Yankees come into their series with the Orioles as the top team in the American League East with a 20-11 record in 31 games.

They are 12-6 in 18 games at home.

Following the Orioles, the Yankees will host the Texas Rangers on Tuesday.
