On Tuesday night, the New York Yankees will continue their series with the Los Angeles Angels in California.

They are coming off a 10-1 loss on Monday night.

The loss was a big letdown after they took three out of four games from the Boston Red Sox over the weekend.

Also on Monday, news came out that the Yankees had acquired John Schreiber.

MLB.com wrote (on August 31): “New York Yankees claimed RHP John Schreiber off waivers from Kansas City Royals.”

Here’s what people were saying about the news:

Joel Sherman: “The Yankees’ plan is for Schreiber to join the team tomorrow (Tuesday) in Anaheim when rosters expand and a 14th pitcher can be added.”

Anne Rogers: “The Yankees claimed right-handed reliever John Schreiber, a source told MLB.com. #Royals placed him on waivers over the weekend. The free agent-to-be ends his time in Kansas City with a 3.71 ERA across three seasons.”

@snyyankees: “Per @Joelsherman1 , the Yankees have claimed John Schreiber off of waivers from the Royals. Schreiber has appeared in 55 games for the Royals this season and has pitched to a 3.65 ERA”

Jake Eisenberg: “Going to miss Denny saying “Schhhrrreeiber.” Schreiber had a 3.71 ERA in 188 career games for the Royals over the last three seasons. His 188 appearances with one team since 2024 are 11th-most in MLB in that span.”

Jorge Castillo: “The Yankees have claimed right-handed reliever John Schreiber off waivers, a source confirmed to ESPN. He had a 3.55 ERA in 55 games for the Royals. Strong splits: .414 OPS vs. RHH, 1.024 OPS vs. LHH. @Joelsherman1 was on the news first.”

@YankeeReport_: “John Schreiber against RHH this season: 0.58 WHIP | 2.78 FIP | 3.12 xFIP | .143 OPP AVG | 21.2% K-BB% He has DOMINATED righties all season long.”

@jazayerli: “Putting him on waivers while even on the fringes of contention was just a weird thing to do to save $600K – especially right before rosters expand. Schreiber never got groundballs as often as you’d like, but he is death on RHB – they’ve hit .209/.271/.319 for his career.”

@VirginiaYankee1: “Schreiber is outpitching his FIP this year (4.87 vs a 3.65 ERA) but he’s a veteran you can trust to compete. Like this pickup”
