The New York Yankees begin a new series against the Texas Rangers on Monday night. After losing their eight-game winning streak on Sunday afternoon, the Yanks made a number of roster moves. Those included optioning Luis Gil to Triple-A and recalling outfielder Jasson Dominguez.
The Jasson Dominguez news is significant in itself, but it’s pertinent because the Yankees are awaiting a clear answer about Giancarlo Stanton’s injury. Stanton had to be removed from Friday’s game and has not played since, but reports emerged before the Rangers game about Giancarlo Stanton.

Greg Joyce wrote (on April 27): “Yankees announce the Jasson Dominguez call-up but don’t put Giancarlo Stanton on the IL. Looks like they’ll play a pitcher short this series and give Stanton a chance to return sooner than if they had put him on the 10-day IL.”
There was then another report emerged that Giancarlo Stanton is going for an MRI:

The New York Yankees are emerging as the real threat in the American League.
Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon have not even returned yet, and the Yankees’ rotation is already one of/if not the best starting groups in the league. They’ve cut dead ends with Luis Gil, and have two very strong young arms in Cam Schlittler and Will Warren.
On the hitting side of things, the Yanks are also clicking on all cylinders.
Fans will certainly hope for Giancarlo Stanton’s return sooner rather than later.
Stanton’s 2026 season: .256 batting average, three home runs, 14 RBI, .422 slugging percentage.
Jasson Dominguez’s season debut is something to follow, and Yankees fans are probably over the moon to have Anthony Volpe back.
