The New York Yankees are enjoying one of the better starts to the 2026 season across Major League Baseball, but a bullpen collapse against the Milwaukee Brewers this past weekend highlighted the last remaining need for New York: bullpen help for depth purposes. New York has David Bednar and Camilo Doval as righties, but after that, things thin out.

One name that could potentially be on the trade block that the Yankees must consider targeting via trade is Chicago White Sox reliever Seranthony Dominguez, who signed a two-year, $20 million deal before the season.

Should the Yankees Pursue Seranthony Dominguez?

In a recent MLB mock trade idea by SI.com’s Ryan Shea, the Yankees are featured in a trade proposal that nets them Seranthony Dominguez for two mid-tier prospects.

It might be a little far-fetched given the fact that the American League Central is anybody’s division to win at this point, and the White Sox are only a couple of games out of first place, but this proposed trade hinges on whether the White Sox want to continue to pay that contract. With an 18-21 record, the White Sox are playing good baseball lately, but there’s still a lot of time to decide if they will use their trade assets to their benefit come July and early August.

As for Seranthony Dominguez, he’s been a very quality reliever for several seasons of his eight-year MLB career.

It’s at least worth looking into if you’re the Yankees, and because it’s early in the trade cycle, Dominguez’s name hasn’t circulated as much as other relievers, but that is likely to change, especially if the Yankees’ bullpen continues to struggle.

Seranthony Dominguez’s MLB Career…

Seranthony Dominguez broke into MLB with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2018. He pitched with the Phillies for six seasons before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 2024. In 2025, he was putting together a quality campaign, which led to him being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays.

In 338 games pitched, he holds an ERA of 3.51, 48 total saves, and 379 strikeouts.

This season with the White Sox, Dominguez’s ERA sits at 3.68 over 14.2 innings pitched and eight saves so far. He walks a fair number of batters, but also has a lively fastball that can garner a lot of swings and misses by opposing hitters.

The fact that he signed a two-year contract signals that the White Sox are more willing to hold onto him for now, but things are always subject to change, especially if the Yankees put together a strong enough trade package.
