Recently, Yankees legend Paul O’Neill spoke about George Lombard Jr. (via YES Network).
O’Neill: “It’s amazing. You never know as an organization, you know, what impact you’re going to have, but it’s been a resounding debut. There’s no doubt about it. He has taken off and he has stabilized that defense on the left side of the infield so much. And all of a sudden now, when you don’t have to worry about your defense because you’re solid, you can put your effort into offense, and that’s been as good as anybody… To call up a young player and have him change the way the team goes about things. That’s saying a lot about him.”
Yankees fans will likely enjoy hearing the comments from O’Neill.
He helped the franchise win four World Series titles.
