New York Yankees Released 2 Players From Organization Before Braves Series

On Friday night, the New York Yankees will open up a series with the Atlanta Braves in the Bronx.

They have the day off on Thursday following a series where they dropped two out of three games to the St. Louis Cardinals (also at home).

Ahead of their series with the Braves, the Yankees released several players from their organization.

MLB.com wrote (on August 6): “Hudson Valley Renegades released RHP Jackson Fristoe.”

MLB.com wrote (on August 6): “Hudson Valley Renegades released SS Santiago Gomez.”

Neither player has made their MLB debut.

Looking At Fristoe

Fristoe was picked in the 12th round of the 2022 MLB Draft (out of Mississippi St.) by the Yankees.

The 25-year-old had gone 2-3 with a 9.60 ERA in 16 High-A games this year.

Looking At Gomez

Gomez has appeared in 38 Single-A and Double-A games this year.

He had been batting .222 with 20 hits, seven RBIs, 12 runs and six stolen bases.

John Brophy wrote: “Gómez had batted 7-for-16 since being promoted from Tampa with 2 RBI but had 10 strikeouts (40 wRC+ in A+, 202 wRC+ in AA). Fristoe had a 9.60 ERA in 15 IP with HV (7.04 xFIP), and was just reinstated from the IL on July 28th after missing nearly two months.”

Braves Right Now
