On Thursday night, the New York Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 6-1.
With the victory, they swept the three-game series.
Triple-A Manager Makes Volpe Statement
Earlier this month, Anthony Volpe was optioned to Triple-A.
The Yankees wrote (via X) on August 3: “Following tonight’s game, the Yankees optioned RHP Angel Chivilli, OF Jasson Domínguez and INF Anthony Volpe to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.”
Volpe hit a home run during Thursday’s game for the SWB RailRiders (they won 2-0).
After the game, Triple-A manager Shelley Duncan spoke about Volpe.
Duncan: “Anthony Volpe, huge two-run homer right there… It takes someone big to step up in a moment like that and deliver the blow that you need to get those runs across the board to get the win and it was a big player, big homer and the perfect guy to do it. It was a great win.”
Skipper Shelley Duncan also highlights a tremendous quality start from Adam Kloffenstein in a shortened seven-inning game, plus a clutch homer from Anthony Volpe.
Looking At Volpe
Volpe was picked in the 1st round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
He won a Gold Glove as a rookie (in 2023) and helped the franchise reach the World Series (in 2024).
Before getting optioned, Volpe had been batting .240 with 41 hits, one home run, 19 RBIs, 20 runs and seven stolen bases in 56 games.
Volpe’s play at the Triple-A level will be worth watching for Yankees fans.
He was once among the top prospects in all of baseball.

The Yankees are currently the second-place team in the American League East with a 72-55 record in 127 games.
They will open up a series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night in the Bronx.
