Phillies’ Bryce Harper Records Milestone Hit During Mariners Game

Bryce Harper is in his eighth season with the Philadelphia Phillies. With two singles against Seattle Mariners starter Logan Gilbert, Harper picked up his 1000th hit with the franchise, per Dave Uram of 94 WIP.

As Uram notes, Harper is the first Phillies hitter to record 1,000 hits with the franchise since Ryan Howard. Howard, one of the greatest sluggers in the club’s history, reached this milestone 15 years ago.

Breaking down his first 1,000 hits with the team, Harper has 543 singles, 243 doubles, nine triples, and 205 home runs.

Bryce Harper came to the Phillies on a record-breaking 13-year, $330 million contract. Despite the big contract, it has aged well over the first eight years. Especially after other star players have long since landed bigger contracts.

Harper has accomplished everything but winning a World Series in a Phillies uniform. He won an MVP in the 2021 season and has given his all to put the club in the best position to win. He’s been named to three National League All-Star teams (2022, 2024, 2026).

Harper’s got a long track record of being a proven postseason performer. In 57 games, he’s slashing .274/.390/.596 with 17 home runs and 34 RBI. Harper was named the 2022 NLCS MVP after the Phillies defeated the San Diego Padres in five games.

His three-run home run that iced Game 5 of the 2022 National League Championship Series is an all-time postseason moment in franchise history. That moment is forever dubbed “Bedlam at the Bank,” taken from Phillies radio announcer Scott Franzke’s iconic call of that home run.

Harper has also sacrificed defensively for the good of the team. He volunteered to play first base in 2023 after Rhys Hoskins suffered a season-ending injury. He made a similar decision this year to accommodate Luis Arraez’s addition to the lineup.

Harper’s career will likely end in Cooperstown. He’s on track for potentially 500 home runs and a legendary postseason resume to push him over the edge. And he’ll likely be inducted wearing a Phillies cap.
