For the first time, the Philadelphia Phillies will play in Iowa.
The Phillies will reportedly take on the Minnesota Twins at the 2026 MLB Field of Dreams Game in Dyersville, Iowa, in the third ideation of the game.
This will be the first time since 2022 that MLB will be hosting a game at the site adjacent to the field where the 1989 baseball classic was filmed. The New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox squared off in the inaugural game in 2021, and the Chicago Cubs took on the Cincinnati Reds in August of 2022.
Why Are The Phillies Playing In Iowa?
Major League Baseball continues to put the Phillies on the main stage due to their star-laden roster and ultra-rabid fan base.
The impromptu trip to Iowa will mark the fourth time the Phillies have participated in one of MLB’s “Jewel” events, not including their 2022 World Series appearance. Philadelphia has twice played in the Little League Classic and of course played two games against the New York Mets in London in 2024.
USA Today initially reported the Phillies would again play the Mets in Iowa, before The Athletic reported they would take on the Twins.
According to an MLB source, the Phillies will go to Iowa after playing a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals in August. The “Field of Dreams” game will be played on a Thursday, with a rain date for Friday, before the teams complete their series at Target Field in Minneapolis on Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets for the game will be extremely scarce, since the site only can hold 7,800.
The previous Field of Dreams games were played on the second Thursday in August, and if that trend holds, the Phillies-Twins game will be played on Aug. 10, 2026. FOX also broadcast the previous two ideations and should be expected to be the TV rightsholder too.
The Twins, of course, will be the home team for the Field of Dreams Game, since they are hosting the other two games of the series.
The Phillies are 1-3 in their previous four Jewel games. They split with the Mets in London in 2024, and they are 0-2 in their previous Little League Classic appearances.
Fans can also expect to see vintage-style Phillies merchandise released at a later date.
When Will The Phillies’ 2026 Schedule Be Released?
The Phillies’ 2026 schedule will be unveiled Tuesday, along with the rest of the MLB schedule for next year.
Other prospective games, dates and sites may leak out Monday and into Tuesday before the full slates are unveiled, including the reported 2026 London Series.
