Blue Jays considered likely to sign Bo Bichette.

The Toronto Blue Jays are once again looking the part of a potential World Series contender as the 2026 MLB season draws closer.

Despite losing Bo Bichette to the New York Mets in free agency and coming up short behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the race to sign superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker, the Blue Jays feel good about the roster they have put together.

Early on in the offseason, Toronto was able to get a deal done with star starting pitcher Dylan Cease. He was given a seven-year, $210 million contract by the Blue Jays. They were also able to sign Japanese star Kazuma Okamoto.

While the roster looks competitive, Toronto might still be interested in making a trade for another outfielder. The front office pursuing Tucker so aggressively showed their interest in acquiring a game-changer at the position.

Keeping that in mind, an intriguing potential trade target was once again connected to the Blue Jays.

Toronto Blue Jays Linked to 28-Year-Old Outfield Trade Target

Fastball on SI’s Jackson Roberts took a look at three potential trade suitors for Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan. Toronto made the cut as a possible destination.

“The Blue Jays like to set themselves up for the future while making a trade for the present. They did so when they acquired another Guardian, Andrés Giménez, to take over shortstop for Bo Bichette in the second year of his Toronto tenure,” Roberts wrote.

“With Daulton Varsho slated for free agency next year, there’s a current opening in the Blue Jays outfield that will get more pronounced soon.”

Outside of the Blue Jays, Roberts also mentioned the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners as potential trade suitors. Kwan could also have a bigger market if the Guardians were to make him available for trade.

What Would Steven Kwan Bring to the Blue Jays?

Kwan has been one of the top players in Cleveland over the last few years. He had another quality year in 2025 for the Guardians.

In the 156 games he played, the 28-year-old outfielder hit 11 home runs to go along with 56 RBI, 21 stolen bases, and a slash line of .272/.330/.374.

Those numbers would be a nice addition for the Toronto outfield. He’s no Tucker, but he would be more than capable of making an impact and helping the Blue Jays pursue another run to the World Series.

Depending on the price tag it would take to acquire him from Cleveland, Toronto should have interest.

Expect to continue hearing rumors come out about the Blue Jays and what they could do next. Outside of the outfield, Toronto could consider bolstering its bullpen with another arm. Or, it’s also possible that the Blue Jays are done with their offseason and decide to head into the 2026 season with their current roster intact.
