Keegan Matheson of MLB.com wrote: “Max Scherzer got a cortisone shot in his forearm yesterday, John Schneider said, and he’ll stay shut down from throwing for five days.”

Scherzer is in his second season pitching for the Blue Jays.

Right now, the 41-year-old is 1-3 with a 9.64 ERA in his first five games of the 2026 season.

MLB.com had written (on May 6): “Resumed activity by playing light catch at Tropicana Field on May 4 and 6, but said his forearm isn’t responding as desired. Will meet with doctors to discuss next steps. Said his ankle discomfort has lessened.”
