Liverpool FC is stepping into a new space that few expected. The Premier League club has partnered with Trimble and RFK Racing to place its branding on a NASCAR Cup Series car. The No. 17 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, driven by Chris Buescher, will carry a special Liverpool-themed livery at Sonoma Raceway in June 2026.

The project links football and motorsports through Fenway Sports Group, which owns both Liverpool FC and RFK Racing. The crossover will be revealed to fans during an event in the United States, marking a rare moment where two global sports come together on one stage in a single campaign.

Liverpool FC Enters the NASCAR Cup Series with RFK Racing

The collaboration brings Liverpool FC into the NASCAR Cup Series for a one-off race. The No. 17 car will feature Liverpool’s red color and Liver bird crest. Trimble serves as the main sponsor behind the project.

Kate Theobald, commercial director at Liverpool FC, explained the move. “Collaborating with our global sponsor, Trimble, to feature on RFK Racing’s car is an exciting moment for the club. It allows us to show up in a completely new sporting environment and connect with supporters in a way that feels fresh and unexpected, particularly in the US, where we have the fastest-growing fan base of any Premier League club. Unveiling the car in Tampa, in front of fans, is the perfect way to bring that moment to life as we look ahead to returning this summer for our 2026-27 US pre-season tour,” she said.

The car will race at Sonoma in June 2026. The event places Liverpool branding directly in front of a NASCAR audience during a regular-season race.

Trimble and RFK Racing Highlight Shared Performance Goals

Trimble linked the partnership to its work across industries. Mark Schwartz, group president of AECO at Trimble, described the connection. “Trimble technology helps connect critical industries around the world – from the construction of state-of-the-art stadiums to the roads and bridges fans use to get to them. Our collaboration with RFK Racing and Liverpool FC celebrates a shared commitment to precision and performance. By bringing these iconic brands together, we are showcasing how a connected ecosystem – whether on the pitch, the track, or the jobsite – empowers teams to achieve more.”

RFK Racing president Chip Bowers also addressed the partnership. “This is a special opportunity to connect three world-class organizations. Liverpool FC has one of the most passionate global fan bases in sports, and Trimble’s sponsorship made it possible to bring that global energy to life on one of our cars in Sonoma, at a time when the world’s attention is on soccer in the US. It’s a powerful moment for all three brands,” Bowers stated.

The project connects sports, technology, and global audiences through a single platform.

Tampa Unveiling Introduces Crossover to Fans

The official reveal will take place during Premier League Mornings Live in Tampa on April 18-19, 2026. Fans attending the event will see the car before it reaches the track.

A merchandise collection tied to the design will also launch at the event. The items will feature the same branding used on the race car.

Liverpool FC continues to grow its presence in the United States. The club reports millions of supporters across the country and plans a 2026-27 pre-season tour with stops in major cities. The NASCAR activation arrives during that buildup.

The No. 17 car will carry the design only at Sonoma. The partnership highlights a shared effort between Liverpool FC, Trimble, and RFK Racing within Fenway Sports Group’s portfolio.
