Down in Florida, the Detroit Pistons are looking to bounce back with a matchup against the Miami Heat on Sunday, March 8.
Heading into the game, Cade Cunningham’s status was in question for the visiting team. The star guard recently suffered a quad-related setback, which forced him to miss the first matchup of a back-to-back set on Saturday.
Before the outing against the Brooklyn Nets, Pistons head coach JB Bickerstaff addressed the status of Cunningham. The comments suggested the setback was not a major issue for the Pistons.
“Deuce, I think, will be more day-to-day,” Bickerstaff told reporters before the matchup. “We’ll just keep an eye on him. We’ll see how he responds and how he recovers, but hopefully, it’s not a long-term thing.”

According to the official NBA injury report, Cunningham is listed as available on Sunday. There is a strong chance he’s back on the floor for the Pistons.
In his last two outings, Cunningham has struggled on the offensive end of the floor. During the March 3 matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cunningham shot just 25% from the field in 38 minutes. He scored 10 points in the 113-109 loss.
During the March 5 game against the San Antonio Spurs, Cunningham checked in for 39 minutes. He knocked down 38% of his shots from the field, scoring 26 points. The Pistons dropped that game with a score of 121-106.
Without Cunningham, the Pistons allowed for a comeback victory in favor of the Brooklyn Nets. The Pistons suffered a third-straight loss, falling short 107-105.
Barring any unexpected changes, Cunningham should be cleared for action against the Heat on Sunday. The game tips off at 6 PM ET.
