After parting ways with president of basketball operations Daryl Morey, the Philadelphia 76ers will be looking for a replacement.
The front office architect of the Golden State Warriors‘ recent dynastical run will lead that search.
Bob Myers to Lead 76ers’ Search For New Lead Front Office Executive

Bob Myers, who currently serves as the president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, will lead the search for a new president of basketball operations for Philadelphia, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Myers previously served as the general manager for the Warriors from 2012 to 2023. While he didn’t draft the likes of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in Golden State, he made a multitude of ultra-impactful moves during his time with the team, including signing both Andre Iguodala and Kevin Durant.
Now in Philadelphia, Myers doesn’t plan to waste any time when it comes to identifying a successor for Morey.
“I know how much the 76ers mean to the City of Philadelphia, and it’s important we find the right leader to shape the future of this team,” Myers said in a statement.
“The process will start immediately, and we will be thorough and deliberate in our evaluations. I believe this is a destination for top talent across the league and look forward to solidifying our infrastructure moving forward.”
The timeline for the executive search will be interesting for Philadelphia as they have some major roster decisions on the horizon in the form of the 2026 NBA Draft and free agency. Technically, you’d think they’d want the new executive in place in order to participate in the decision-making process that will impact the future of the franchise.
But, if they want to slow-play the process, Myers is certainly qualified to make those decisions for Philadelphia. In fact, there would be many fans in Philly who would be happy if Myers took the job himself given his track record, but the doesn’t seem to be an option on the table at this point.
Nick Nurse to Stay on as Head Coach of 76ers

While the Sixers are shaking things up in a major way in the front office, they aren’t doing the same on the sideline. Nick Nurse is expected to remain in his role as head coach in Philadelphia despite the departure of Morey, who hired him.
It remains to be seen how long Nurse’s leash will be under a new front office executive, but it appears as though he avoided the same fate as Morey, for now.
