The Golden State Warriors, despite bringing back Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis, Draymond Green, and a few other rotational players, haven’t made any strides in free agency to build a stronger roster around franchise star Stephen Curry.
The Warriors have yet to add any free agents so far this summer, and while Curry remains committed to the team regardless of their standing in the Western Conference, a few players could be added to bolster their chances at making a run next year.
In a new crop of free agent targets outlined by Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Warriors have eyes for a few players. One is a former member of the Los Angeles Lakers who remains available after being cast off by the team last season, as Gabe Vincent could be a viable backup guard option for Golden State to add.

While speaking on a recent live stream, Siegel mentioned Vincent as a potential free agent guard target for the Warriors to go after as he remains available more than a month into the 2026 NBA offseason.
Vincent spent the first four years of his career with the Miami Heat before joining the Lakers in 2023. After failing to become a consistently impactful player, averaging just 5.6 points on 20.8 minutes per game in L.A. for three years, he was traded at the deadline to the Atlanta Hawks for Luke Kennard.
He played 24 games in Atlanta to finish this past season, but after playing out the final year of a three-year, $33 million deal, the 30-year-old with NBA Finals experience remains in unrestricted free agency.
Writing about Vincent as a Warriors free agent target, Basketnews.com believes Vincent could offer experience on a cheap deal for Golden State.
“Vincent was also included among the four minimum-contract names Golden State is watching. Siegel did not provide as much detail on Vincent, but the veteran guard was still listed as part of the Warriors’ potential market. Vincent had a quiet 2025-26 campaign split between the Lakers and Hawks, but his playoff experience and ability to handle backup guard minutes could still appeal to Golden State.”
While it doesn’t appear the Warriors have major aspirations of competing for a championship next season after missing out on other big free agent targets like LeBron James, adding depth in the backcourt to fill out their roster and available cap space could be a good move, even if his arrival is only for Curry injury insurance.

Along with naming former Lakers player Vincent as a potential free agent target for the Warriors in August, Siegel mentioned a few other available options who could round out the team’s roster for the 2026-27 NBA season.
Those include Kelly Olynyk and Brandon Williams. Siegel added Payton, but in the time since, he has already agreed to a new one-year veteran minimum to return to Golden State.
“Kelly Olynyk, a guy that has been linked to the Warriors before,” Siegel said of Olynyk, who played last season with the San Antonio Spurs. “He’s been a target of them for the last two to three years. He’s going to be an option on a minimum deal.”
“Brandon Williams is another player that we know they have interest in,” Siegel said of Williams, who averaged a career-high 13 points in 66 games last season. “He’s a free agent, played well for the Dallas Mavericks last year at the guard position.”
Like with Payton, either Olynyk, Williams, or the ex-Lakers guard Vincent would all arrive at the Warriors on veteran minimum deals for about $3.8 million, should Golden State finally act on the free agent market.
Still, over a month into the offseason, the Warriors have yet to add any free agents, and while Curry remains in town, it looks as though head coach Steve Kerr’s ‘fading dynasty‘ comments from last season are finally coming to fruition, perhaps more quickly than anyone thought would be possible.
