Bronny James continues to be floated in Lakers trade rumors with his father LeBron James.

There has been no shortage of rumors about LeBron James’ future with the Los Angeles Lakers, which also means there is chatter about his son Bronny James. Seemingly every NBA trade pitch involving King James also includes the younger James.

Lost in all the Lakers rumors is that James’ game has taken great strides since his rookie season. James was the talk of NBA Summer League, but the guard admitted the Las Vegas scene is not for him.

“My head is all over the place,” James told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin during a July 29, 2025, feature titled, “Inside Bronny James’ Year 2 development with Lakers.” “There’s so much going on in Vegas. I personally don’t like summer league at all.

“I like the competition and the games, but I don’t like coming to Vegas and being in Vegas … After this, I’m just doing nothing.”

Bronny James Was Once Projected as a Potential Top-10 NBA Draft Pick

James made this admission despite shining during NBA Summer League action. The Lakers guard averaged 14.3 points, 3.8 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game this summer.

It has been a tumultuous few years for James who had a serious medical scare while playing college basketball at USC. Not only was James’ basketball career in jeopardy, but there were serious concerns about the guard’s overall health.

James was once pegged as a potential top-10 NBA draft pick. Fast forward to the 2024 NBA draft where James was in danger of going undrafted before the Lakers selected the guard with the No. 55 overall pick in the second round.

Bronny James on Lakers Rumors Involving LeBron James: ‘He Just Tells Me to Not Worry About It’

There are a plethora of trade rumors sending the James duo back to Ohio in a blockbuster trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Another popular trade pitch has the James tandem heading back to South Beach to play for the Miami Heat. James does his best to avoid listening to the latest NBA rumors on HoopsHype when it comes to his father’s future.

“We don’t really talk about it much,” James noted in June when asked about his father’s uncertain future with the Lakers, per Sports Illustrated. “I think when stuff like that does come up, he just tells me to not worry about it, to not even pay attention to it [and] just lock into what you have going on right now.

“And that’s what’s going to get me better and to keep me focused. I think it’s good that he tells me to not pay attention to that stuff.”

Lakers HC JJ Redick on Bronny James: ‘I Think It’s Tough to Push Past Certain Points for Him’

Lakers head coach JJ Redick has been candid about his admiration for James’ game as well as the areas where he believes the 20-year-old guard needs to improve. Redick hinted that James’ health scare still looms large in his play.

“He’s cleared,” Redick told ESPN. “… I get that there’s a history there of a really scary thing that he had to live through, and I think it’s tough to push past certain points for him, but he’s going to get there. He’s going to get there.”
