New Orleans Pelicans Make Zion Williamson Announcement Before Celtics Game

On Friday evening, the New Orleans Pelicans will be in Boston to play the Celtics.

The Pelicans are coming off a 156-137 win over the Utah Jazz (at home).

Zion Williamson did not play in the game.

For Friday’s game, the Pelicans have announced that they will remain without Williamson.

He has been ruled out on the injury report.

Underdog NBA wrote: “Zion Williamson (injury management) listed out for Friday.”

Williamson is averaging 21.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 60.0% from the field and 25.0% from three-point range in 62 games.

He is in the middle of his seventh year in the NBA (all with New Orleans).

Pelicans Right Now

The Pelicans are currently the 11th seed in the Western Conference with a 26-54 record in 80 games.

They have won just two out of their last ten games (and are 9-30 on the road).

Following the Celtics, the Pelicans will play their final game of the 2026 season on Sunday when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.

The Pelicans last made the NBA playoffs during the 2024 season when they still had Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum on their roster.

In addition, Williamson has yet to appear in a playoff game since being selected with the first pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Duke.

Celtics Ahead Of Pelicans Clash

The Celtics are the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 54-25 record in 79 games.

They are in the middle of a four-game winning streak (and 8-2 over their last ten).

On Thursday night, the Celtics will play the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
