New York Knicks superstar center Karl-Anthony Towns knows what it’s like to be No. 1.
After all, Towns was drafted No. 1 overall in the 2015 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves back in 2018.
But KAT just hit No. 1 in a completely new category, related to his life off-the-court.
On Thursday July 17, 2025, Bleacher Report released an article called, “Ranking the Top 10 Celebrity Power Couples in the Sports World” written by sportswriter and Knicks insider Lee Escobedo.
In that article, Towns and his girlfriend Jordan Woods were ranked the No. 1 Power Couple in sports.
“Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods deserve the No. 1 spot not just for their combined star power but also for how they’ve navigated public life with a depth and dignity that transcends celebrity optics,” Escobedo wrote.
Giving Towns and Woods the No. 1 spot was especially noteworthy given that Escobedo ranked them over more well-known sports couples such as Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, and Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens.

Jordyn Woods has done a little bit of everything: acting, modeling, entrepreneurship, reality TV, and social media.
She’s famously a really good friend of Kylie Jenner, and even lived with her at one point.
Woods and Towns reportedly began dating back in 2020.
She tops Escobedo’s list despite certainly not being the most famous WAG on it. KAT definitely isn’t the most famous athlete on it either.
But Escobedo gave KAT and Woods the top spot for a different reason.
“Together, they’ve been a model of mutual healing,” Escobedo wrote. “Whether standing arm-in-arm at charity events or sharing moments of raw honesty online, they’ve shown what real partnership under pressure looks like.”
“They may not be the flashiest couple on the list. But when it comes to heart and hustle, no one else comes close.”
This Comes in the Wake of a Strange KAT Internet Trend
For whatever reason, despite the fact that Towns and Woods have been publicly dating for five years now, NBA fans enjoy speculating and making jokes that Karl-Anthony Towns’s sexuality may not be what it seems.
The latest example of this came at the ESPYs on Wednesday July 16, 2025, when comedian and ESPYs host Shane Gillis made a joke at Towns’s expense.
Much of the speculation has to do with Towns’s voice, which many NBA fans feel is effeminate.
Gillis played into that Wednesday.
“Karl-Anthony Towns is here, hey girrrrl,” Gillis joked.
Towns is not the kind of person that fans should expect to respond to Gillis, which is another reason Escobedo ranked him and Woods so high.
“In a world eager to reduce everything to soundbites, they’ve responded not with clapbacks but composure,” Escobedo wrote.
So, in some sense, seeing Towns at the top of the list is a reminder of where his heart truly lies (with Woods) amidst all of the speculation and jokes at his expense.
