NBA Announces Major Jalen Brunson Stat Before Knicks-76ers Game 2

Jalen Brunson reportedly called a players-only meeting after the New York Knicks' 114-97 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, January 19.

The New York Knicks have found plenty of success against the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA playoffs as of late.

The superstar guard Jalen Brunson is a big reason for that, as his elite scoring has been a handful for Philadelphia’s defense.

Heading into Game 2 between the Sixers and the Knicks, the NBA revealed a statistic that shows just how productive Brunson has been against the Sixers specifically.

Like Steph Curry against the Portland Trail Blazers, Brunson’s accomplishment happened over the course of two different offseasons.

Back in 2024, the Sixers and the Knicks met in the first round. Through the first two games, Brunson scored 22 and 24 points. In Game 3, Brunson produced 39 points in a 125-114 Sixers victory.

From that point on, Brunson scored 40-plus points as the Knicks closed out the 76ers in that series. It was settled in six games. Brunson wrapped up the series with 41 points and 12 assists in a 118-115 victory on the road.

After taking down the Atlanta Hawks in the first round this season, the Knicks hosted the 76ers for Game 1 earlier this week. Brunson needed just 30 minutes to help the Knicks seal the deal. The star guard shot 12-18 from the field and knocked down a few threes.

The Knicks’ star ended the game with 35 points, three assists, one rebound, and two steals. The Knicks dominated the Sixers with a score of 137-98.

On Wednesday, May 6, the two teams are set to meet for Game 2 of the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
