The Atlanta Falcons are making roster moves to boost their chances to compete in 2026. The team has resigned defensive tackle LaCale London through the 2026 season.
“The #Falcons have re-signed DT LaCale London, per the team. He had five sacks in 2025.” Marc Raimondi wrote on his official X account.
The Atlanta Falcons bring back a phenomenal run-stuffer who had a breakout 2025 season. After keeping Jeff Ulbrich as defensive coordinator, this signing is a trend in the right direction for the Atlanta Falcons.
The Falcons did not re-sign defensive tackle Kentavius Street, who signed with the Chicago Bears in free agency. This could mean LaCale London may have an even bigger role in 2026.
LaCale London’s Career and 2025 Season
The 28-year-old attended college at the University of Western Illinois before making it to the NFL. It’s safe to say he has made the most of his opportunities since being with the Atlanta Falcons.
“An undrafted free agent out of Western Illinois, the 28-year-old interior lineman has been on an active NFL roster in three separate seasons, including two with the Falcons.” Will McFadden wrote in an Atlanta Falcons article. “He first joined Atlanta in 2023 and appeared in seven games as a rotational defender following a standout training camp. London spent the 2024 season on the Falcons’ practice squad before appearing in 13 games with five starts during the 2025 season.”
During the 2025 season, London recorded 30 tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, 5 sacks and a forced fumble. His five sacks were a career-high and the fourth most on the team last season. London will add depth to the Atlanta Falcons’ front four.
Over three NFL seasons, London has recorded a total of 43 tackles (23 solo) and 9 tackles for loss. All five of his career sacks came in 2025.
Notable Offseason Moves From the Atlanta Falcons
After moving on from head coach Raheem Morris, the Falcons replaced him with former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski. Stefanski will look to steer Atlanta in the right direction after being fired by the Cleveland Browns. Kevin Stefanski is a two-time coach of the year with the Cleveland Browns. As an offensive mind, he has an opportunity to thrive with a very talented Atlanta Falcons offense to compete in the NFC South.
Since Stefanski’s hiring, the Falcons also brought back defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich and hired Bill Callahan as their new offensive line coach.
Offensive Coordinator Tommy Rees was hired by the Falcons on January 22, 2026. Rees previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns in 2025.
The Atlanta Falcons have officially released quarterback Kirk Cousins after the start of the new league year on March 11. All signs were pointing to a Kirk Cousins release after the 2025 season. Now, the former starting quarterback will enter his next chapter.
In addition to Cousins, the team also released wide receiver Darnell Mooney to clear up cap space. The 28-year-old veteran receiver had an impressive stint with the Atlanta Falcons. Mooney recorded 1,435 yards and six touchdowns in 31 games over the past two seasons.
During free agency, the team has already signed QB Tua Tagovailoa, WR Jahan Dotson, WR Olamide Zaccheaus, TE Austin Hooper, Kicker Nick Folk, and Punter Jake Bailey.
