Paul Posluszny had a long career in the NFL (2007-2017), but it was with the Buffalo Bills where he played the first few seasons of his career.

The 41-year-old former linebacker was selected in the second round after a prolific career with the Penn State Nittany Lions, winning the Chuck Bednarik Award (2005, 2006) in back-to-back years as the defensive player of the year in college football. He also won the Dick Butkus Award — the best linebacker in the game — during the 2005 season and was a Consensus All-American during his final two seasons in college. He was also named a Pro Bowler during the 2013 season as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars after leading the NFL in solo tackles.

With the Bills, he made an immediate impact, notching over 100 tackles in three of his four seasons while posting 151 tackles during his final season with Buffalo in 2010.

Posluszny still keeps close tabs on the NFL today. The former linebacker sat down for a one-on-one interview — courtesy of iPredicta — and said that current Bills quarterback Josh Allen is the best in the game today.

“He’s got to be right at the top,” said Posluszny in a one-on-one interview. “With his capabilities and the things that he can do; his size, his speed, the way he throws the ball downfield. Obviously Matt Stafford is a veteran quarterback who has outstanding numbers, so super impressive in what he’s able to do with his completion percentage and getting the ball downfield. You look at Josh Allen and, let’s put it this way, if you had to build a team around one quarterback in the NFL right now, I’d pick him.”

Josh Allen Turned in One of His Best Seasons During 2025 Campaign

Posluszny makes sure to mention Los Angeles Rams star and reigning MVP Matthew Stafford near the top of the list, but it’s clear he views Allen as the top quarterback in the league.

Allen is less than two years removed from winning the MVP award and he turned in another quality season last year, completing a career high 69.3% of his passes and 8.0 yards per pass attempt. He also chipped in with 14 rushing touchdowns and 579 rushing yards.

To top it all of, he continued to be a model of consistency, leading the Bills to their seventh consecutive playoff appearance, the longest active streak in the NFL.

Thurman Thomas Agrees That Josh Allen is Best QB in NFL

Posluszny isn’t the only former Bill to echo this sentiment about Allen being the best quarterback in the game today. Bills great and Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas also said the same thing about Allen, stating that he’s better than Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“I think he’s the best,” said Thomas in a one-on-one interview with ClutchPoints on behalf of his partnership with Carhartt. “People are gonna say, ‘Well, Patrick Mahomes.’ Well, Patrick Mahomes didn’t have a great year. They didn’t make the playoffs. Lamar didn’t make the playoffs. It was Josh that has continued this trend of making the playoffs for the last eight years in a row. The guy’s throwing for 4000 yards, he’s scoring 17 touchdowns. He’s doing what he’s supposed to be doing as a football player for the Buffalo Bills, and that’s why I think he’s the best quarterback in the National Football League. And to be honest with you, we could probably be saying that for the next two or three years.”
