Josh Allen has received a positive update regarding his foot injury ahead of the Bills' playoff action

The Buffalo Bills are set to kick off another playoff run, and this year, more than ever, Super Bowl expectations are surrounding this team. With a wide-open playoff field, quarterback Josh Allen is believed to have a leg up on the competition, particularly in the AFC, even though the Bills are the No. 6 seed.

In the wild-card round, Buffalo has drawn a tough matchup against a red-hot Jacksonville Jaguars team. Making matters even worse for the Bills, Allen has been dealing with a lingering foot injury over the past couple of weeks. With kickoff just hours away, though, Allen has received a positive update on his injury status for this game.

Josh Allen Gets Encouraging Update on Foot Injury

The 2025 campaign has been a bit of an odd one for the Bills. They watched the New England Patriots reclaim control of the AFC East division, which is why they are the No. 6 seed in the AFC playoff picture. While Allen has remained arguably the best quarterback in the NFL currently, winning hasn’t exactly come easy for Buffalo this season.

Making Allen’s late-season surge even more impressive is the fact that he has been battling a foot injury as of late. While Allen’s status for this contest against the Jaguars was never in doubt, every single injury is going to be examined under a microscope, given how large the stakes are currently.

If Allen’s injured foot impacts his performance even in the slightest, that is going to make winning all the more difficult for the Bills. The good news, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, is that Allen’s foot is feeling “as good as it’s been in some time,” meaning it should not impact him when he takes the field on Sunday afternoon.

“My understanding is that foot injury is as good as it’s been in some time,” Rapoport said on “NFL GameDay.” “He aggravated an old bone issue on the side of his foot. It is a pain tolerance issue. Most importantly, no risk of further injury for Josh Allen playing on that foot.”

The goal for Buffalo this postseason is simple. With teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Cincinnati Bengals not in the playoffs, the door is wide open for the Bills to make a deep run this year. Anything less than a Super Bowl appearance would be considered a failure, as many folks view this as being Allen’s best shot at winning that ever-elusive Super Bowl.

It’s not going to be easy, though, as Buffalo will likely spend its entire playoff run on the road, which is always important once the postseason rolls around. The Jacksonville crowd is going to be understandably hostile on Sunday, but this isn’t Allen’s first rodeo. He will look to guide the Bills to the divisional round of the playoffs by leading his squad past the Jags when he returns to the field at 1 p.m. ET.
