While Allen and his wife have not revealed their newborn’s name, Steinfeld shared the first photos of their daughter while celebrating Mother’s Day.
“My appreciation and admiration for moms has grown immensely since becoming a Mom myself,” the 29-year-old wrote in her newsletter, Beau Society. “To my mom, you have set the bar so very high!! And I’m so grateful for my incredible husband, who made the day so special, filled with so much love, snuggles with our girl + his homemade banana pancakes.”
In the May 15 issue, Steinfeld opened up what life looks like at home postpartum. She wrote, “You know how some weeks feel beautifully full, others strangely slow? Well, somehow, these past few have managed to be both. Steinfeld described writing down her thoughts between “moments between the chaos, new routines, excitement, and sleepless nights.”

“As I attempt to figure out how to actually carve out dedicated time for getting dressed in the mornings, I’ve been loving the simplicity of a good set,” Steinfeld said of wearing comfortable clothing while doing Zoom calls from home.
“My amazing doula has taught me so much about postpartum nutrition,” she continued, noting on how she plans to make lactation cookies. “(I feel like I could write an entire letter on this topic!) In general, she advised me to stick to warm foods during my postpartum recovery to help digestion and boost nutrient absorption, a philosophy that stems from Ayurveda.”
Steinfeld gave a shoutout to her close friend, actress Ayo Edebiri. “You guys always ask me what I’m reading, and currently it’s ‘The First 40 Days.’ It was in the gift that Ayo got me. I sent her a rambling voice note the other day to let her know how often I’ve been reaching into her postpartum emergency kit — daily!
“I’m halfway through this book, and every word has resonated. There’s a paragraph early on that talks about how even forty days after giving birth, you’re still in such a vulnerable state. People understand that about your new baby, but they don’t understand that about you, the mom. I’m still in this early period and need to remember to be super gentle with myself in every way — physically, mentally, nutritionally, spiritually, all of it.”
Hailee Steinfeld Is Back in the Gym, But ‘Taking it Slow’
The exact date Steinfeld gave birth remains unclear. She was still pregnant during the Academy Awards on March 15, so their baby arrived sometime between then and April 2.
The 2024 league MVP cut paternity leave short and returned to Buffalo for the first day of voluntary workouts on April 7. Steinfeld is also getting back to her workouts.
She wrote, “My body has gone through a lot of change recently, so I’m taking it slow while I figure out what my workout routine will look like moving forward. But any time the weather is nice enough to get outside, I’ll get out for a quick walk. If that’s not an option, I’m on the treadmill, or the stairmaster — which I’m really into right now.”
