Ben Johnson of the Chicago Bears is getting a strong message from Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell before their game.

Last week marked the beginning of the NFL season, and it’s always an exciting time filled with promise. The Chicago Bears seemed as if they were going to pull off an incredible win over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, September 8, but the Vikings displayed what was a surprising comeback and were able to get ahead for the win.

The game was at Soldier Field in Chicago, which made the loss hurt even more. But, the good news is that it’s only one game, and this team put up a strong showing, even though they lost in the end.

The Chicago Bears, of course, are being coached by Ben Johnson, who hails from the Detroit Lions. Even though the Bears couldn’t pull off a win, quarterback Caleb Williams already looks much better on the field than he did last season, and his numbers showed it. Next up, the Bears will take on the Lions, a team Johnson knows inside and out. Ahead of the matchup, Dan Campbell, the head coach of the Lions, is serving up some difficult words for his former offensive coordinator and putting him and the Bears on notice.

Ahead of Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions Game, Dan Campbell Speaks

The Lions lost their first game of the regular season to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, September 7, and it wasn’t close. Seeing that game, those who root for the Bears should feel pretty confident about their chances going into the matchup. But, Campbell believes his team can, and will, win.

Campbell was asked about the upcoming matchup against the Chicago Bears during a conference on Monday, September 8. He didn’t play around with his answer, but, of course, it’s all talk. Let’s see the action behind it.

“It’s the same thing. He knows what we’re about, we know what he’s about and because of that, you’re going to play that game a little bit,” Campbell said in the conference. “But the game doesn’t matter if you don’t master the basics inside the game. That’s what we have to get back to. We have to worry about ourselves right now and just home in on the little things.”

Dan Campbell on Chicago Bears Matchup: ‘We’re Going to Win This Game’

As for the Windy City coming to the Motor City for Sunday’s game, Campbell talked about that. “We’re going in and getting ready to play Chicago. We’re going to win this game,” Campbell said. “We have to. We have to find a way to clean things up and do what we got to do. And they’re going to try to do the same thing, just like every week.”

Speaking about his team’s youth, Campbell said, “Youth can play a part in it. We had some young guys that struggled yesterday. I certainly didn’t think it would be the best performance they would have all year, but it wasn’t good enough. Good news is, there’s no where to go but up, and up they will go.”

So, Campbell sounds motivated to get a win, but now, Johnson is more motivated than ever, following the loss to the Vikings. If the Bears get up against the Lions, they’ll surely make sure they don’t let it slide like they did on Monday.
