It’s no secret that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is a huge fan of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Back when he was a rookie, Williams didn’t hold back on his praise for Stafford.

“I mean, he’s unbelievable, like, there’s a couple plays where he’ll go play action… he has the (linebacker) on a string, like he wants the backer to go here, and he’ll throw it right behind his head (with) the perfect touch, perfect velocity.”

Williams also said he tries to model his game around Stafford, and now it looks like the respect is mutual.

Matthew Stafford on Caleb Williams: “His Talent is Really Shining Through”

When asked about Williams’ play this season, Stafford didn’t mince his feelings.

“It’s unbelievable. His talent is really shining through this year. He’s found a great fit with coach [Ben] Johnson over there. I think Ben’s doing a hell of a job. He makes plays outside the pocket that not many guys, if any guys in the NFL, can make. He’s doing a nice job inside the pocket as well this year.”

Time and time again, Williams has carried the Bears on his back with the wow plays and clutch throws late in the game. In the 4th quarter against the Green Bay Packers in his playoff debut, he threw 195 yards with two touchdowns and a 110.0 passer rating.

Oh, and Williams leads the NFL with seven comeback wins this season (including playoffs).

Stafford went on to say he believes Williams will test the Rams’ defense on Sunday.

“It’ll be a big test for our defense. Big test for our team, really just going there and trying to come away with the victory. What he’s [Caleb Williams] doing is pretty special. The late game stuff and his ability to make plays off schedule is second to none in the league right now if you ask me.”

Hearing this will surely put a smile on Williams’ face.

Williams’ Latest Comments on Stafford Ahead of Playoff Clash

As for Williams’ latest comments on Stafford, it’s safe to say he still believes Stafford is a premier quarterback.

“He’s at the top of the game right now. And so, that’s something you can learn from. He drops back, and he has what everybody calls snake eyes, and things like that. And just knowing defenses. Knowing the offense and being able to move people where you want to move them is something he’s been able to do very well.”

Snake eyes is essentially when the quarterback is staring down a defender to move him to one side while the QB throws in another direction.

Williams also added that he believes this matchup is “going to be fun.”

“It’s a top offense in the league. He [Sean McVay] has a top quarterback in the league. And when you got those two things, you can run a pretty well-oiled machine over there, and I think that’s what he’s done for the past however many years. And so, it’s going to be fun to be able to go compete against them.”

Not only will it be a fun game, but an awesome quarterback matchup between two guys who are playing some of their best football.
