One of the most glamorous nights of the year for celebrities to show up and break out their most ostentatious attire is the Met Gala. This year, it went off with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in attendance.
Burrow’s outfit was far from the most notable, but it was impressive in its own right. The Bengals themselves shared that outfit on social media, with the caption, “Joe is art.” It can be seen here:
The Met Gala is an annual event that raises money and awareness for the arts. In particular, it benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It’s developed a fashion forward approach over the years, as it has become among the world’s most prestigious events in fashion.
It’s not uncommon for athletes to attend the Met Gala. Joe Burrow certainly wasn’t alone, getting photographed alongside Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Along with those NFL stars, other major names like Venus Williams, Alysa Liu, and Angel Reese were all in attendance. Of course, the list of athletes went well beyond that, and also included some of the biggest celebrities in the world.
Joe Burrow Appeared at the Met Gala Following Criticism for His Kentucky Derby Outfit

It was a busy weekend of public appearances for Joe Burrow. Prior to going to the Met Gala on Monday night, he attended the Kentucky Derby over the weekend. There, his outfit was less warmly received.
Much like the Met Gala, there is a certain amount of dressing up that comes with attending the Kentucky Derby. Burrow showed up wearing a more casual look, which would also be shared on social media.
Given that Burrow went on to appear at the Met Gala and has walked in fashion shows before, it’s hard to imagine he didn’t know how that Kentucky Derby look would be received. At the same time, maybe he just didn’t care. After all, this is an event where men typically wear colorful suits, not gray t-shirts.
Of course, it’s worth pointing out that Burrow’s outfit did fit the technical Kentucky Derby standards. So, this really all comes down to the opinion of some of those on the internet who care about fashion.
The Cincinnati Bengals are Focused on Keeping Joe Burrow Happy

On the football field, Joe Burrow is coming off a frustrating season where he dealt with injuries. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals missed the playoffs for a third-straight season. That led to some concerns that Burrow isn’t happy with the Bengals going into the offseason.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Cincinnati has seemed determined to build a winning team around Burrow this offseason. Among the moves to get there has been the major trade to land Dexter Lawrence and solidify the defensive line.
As it stands now, Burrow has a contract that would go through the 2029 season. At the time, that extension had made him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. It also came at a time when the Bengals had been more successful on the field.
Anything can happen in the NFL. However, the Bengals clearly want to hold on to their franchise quarterback and make him happy with the product around him in the immediate future.
