The Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones have just one goal heading into the 2026 NFL season. They want to be a Super Bowl contender.

Over the last few years, the team has continually come up short of expectations. Last season, frustration reached a high for recent times. When all was said and done, the Cowboys mustered up a 7-9-1 record and miss the playoffs.

Jones and the front office made quite a few roster moves this offseason. There has been a lot of competition for spots on the roster. With roster cutdowns right around the corner, Dallas will have some difficult decisions to make.

That being said, one Cowboys’ analyst believes that there are four players beginning to emerge as potential trade candidates in Dallas.

4 Cowboys Players Identified as Potential Trade Candidates

Each team in the NFL will be looking at making moves to improve their rosters before the regular season. Some players who seem likely to be cut by one team are trade targets for another.

When it comes to the Cowboys, Sports Illustrated’s Randy Gurzi named four players who could end up being moved in a trade.

Those four players were safety Markquese Bell, wide receiver Jonathan Mingo, edge rusher Marist Liufau, and tight end Luka Schoonmaker.

Let’s take a closer look at all four players who could be on the trade block.

A Closer Look at the Potential Dallas Trade Candidates

Bell has spent the last four seasons with the Cowboys. He played in 17 games last year, racking up 41 total tackles to go along with a forced fumble, an interception, and three defended passes.

Mingo was acquired by Dallas in a trade with the Carolina Panthers back in 2024. He has yet to carve out a consistent role for himself. Last season, he caught just two passes for 62 yards and a touchdown in six games played.

As for Liufau, he was the No. 87 overall pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Cowboys. Through his first two seasons, he has recorded 80 tackles, 2.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and three defended passes in 34 games played. He could end up making the roster, but other teams would likely have interest.

Finally, Schoonmaker would also likely have decent value on the trade market. He has played in Dallas for the last three seasons. In 51 games played, the 27-year-old tight end has caught 49 passes for 438 yards and three touchdowns.

Whether or not the Cowboys end up trading one of these four players remains to be seen. But, they are names worth keeping an eye on as tough decisions need to be made.
