Cowboys All-Pro Gives Blunt Admission on George Pickens

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens detailed how positive his exit from the Pittsburgh Steelers has been.

Entering the season, the Dallas Cowboys were hopeful that George Pickens would be their WR2. If that hasn’t been proven over the first few months of his time in Dallas, it was proven in Week 2 against the New York Giants. Pickens had some big plays for the Cowboys, including a late touchdown that helped the team win the game. Pickens finished with five receptions for 68 yards and one touchdown.

The talent has never been a question for Pickens, who many consider one of the top 25 wide receivers in the NFL. Of course, he might not be the elite of the elite, but the 24-year-old has been very good throughout his career, and with a pass-heavy offense, he might have an opportunity to be a legitimate star.

Unfortunately, Pickens has been criticized in the past for some of his prior comments and things he does on the field.

From the sound of things, according to Cowboys All-Pro Tyler Smith, none of that seems to be the case so far. In fact, Smith went as far as saying that Pickens has been great with the team and has truly shown that he wants to win.

“I think George had a huge game today, and I know people only see the highlights, but you heard what he was saying in the huddle, I think that really just speaks to who he is as a man,” Smith told reporters. “He was like, ‘Y’all just keep going, you got to keep going till you make it home. Like, keep going.’ When the score wasn’t going our way, when we [were not] moving the ball the way we were supposed to, he was pushing us to keep going every single play.

“I appreciate that, as a man, as a brother,” Smith added.

George Pickens Reflects on Time in Pittsburgh

Pickens’ relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers wasn’t ideal, as he was seen multiple times doing things that he shouldn’t be doing on the field. Whether it be pushing guys on opposing teams, committing bad penalties, and more, the Dallas Cowboys don’t want to deal with that.

However, after the game, Pickens threw a shot at his old team, saying that with the Cowboys, he can prove to everybody that he’s a star, but in Pittsburgh, with a rookie quarterback, whom he dealt with a few times, he couldn’t.

“The last place I was at, just coming in with a group of guys who was good guys, but were all rookies, got a rookie QB, so I couldn’t really thrive and show the world the potential I have,” Pickens said to Josina Anderson. “I had to wait a few years, and then it eventually showed. I get to the Cowboys, and then today, I get to show it again, and we win.

George Pickens Will Need to Stay Healthy for Cowboys

Pickens will have to continue to prove that he can stay on the field for the Dallas Cowboys and act appropriately. Unfortunately, because of his prior problems, there are still some questions about that.

However, the University of Georgia product has done a great job over the first few months of his time with the organization. If that continues moving forward, the Cowboys should be better than some thought they’d be.
