There have certainly been a few areas that could be improved for the Dallas Cowboys, as they sit at 1-2-1 after the first four weeks. The Cowboys have played well for certain parts of the year, while struggling in others. Ultimately, it’ll be a team effort for them to become who they aspire to be moving forward.

However, to say there haven’t been a few bright spots would be unfair, as wide receiver George Pickens has been excellent in Dallas. Many question whether Pickens would be this type of player in Dallas due to his on-field actions, but the talent is clear. For the Cowboys, Pickens has been one of the top wide receivers in the NFL in the early stages of the season, and quarterback Dak Prescott has really been impressed with what he’s done on the field.

“The guy, that’s what he’s done,” Prescott said of Pickens, per the team’s site. “When I say look at his film and look at his resume — whether it’s just been in the months that he’s been here or the time he’s had in Pittsburgh — that’s what he does, that’s who he is, and that’s what allows that chemistry to grow, is when I get a guy who I’ve seen on film make play after play, and then he shows up here … Yeah, I mean no surprises, honestly. Super proud of him.

“He played just as I expected him to play, and what I was most impressed about is just the way that he was focused and locked in on the game, the whole game, and not only just locked in, but doing everything that he needed to do, and doing it right.”

George Pickens Can Become Target for Cowboys’ Dak Prescott

Pickens and Prescott already having this type of connection is a scary sight for the rest of the NFL. If the Dallas Cowboys can figure things out on the defensive side of the football, they’ll have a real opportunity to be a team to watch out for throughout the year.

Pickens finished Sunday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers with eight receptions for 134 yards, including two touchdowns. He made some great plays with CeeDee Lamb out, stating after the game that he’s just focused on making the most of the opportunities he’s getting with Lamb injured.

“Yeah, I’d probably say just more [opportunities], definitely, for everybody,” said Pickens. “[Tolbert], Turp — I feel like we all executed well, too.”

Can George Pickens Become a Reliable Target for Cowboys?

The questions were never about what Pickens was on the field. Anyone who understands football can watch him for a few games and recognize that he possesses all the talent in the world.

However, there were often times when Pickens was doing things that he shouldn’t have been doing on the field. For the Dallas Cowboys, he’s doing everything the opposite way.

Instead of being like he was with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pickens is making sure everybody in the huddle feels good, uplifting his teammates, and just trying to be a great teammate.

“The conversations he’s having in the huddle, uplifting other guys, saying the right things to keep guys focused, and keeping guys standing the moment and being present,” Prescott said. “And not only was he saying it, but he was doing it himself, and being an example; and made play after play, too — big play after big play to give us a chance.”

To say it’s gone well early on would be an understatement.
