Former Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson received some embarrassing news.

Russell Wilson’s Denver Broncos tenure has been over for more than two years, but the aftershocks keep producing awkward reminders.

The latest came from the Broncos’ own online store, where Wilson No. 3 jerseys were listed at clearance-level prices. The official shop page showed multiple Wilson Broncos jerseys marked down sharply, including men’s Nike game jerseys at $7.99 and limited jerseys at $14.99, with some youth Wilson Broncos jerseys available through Fanatics for $4.99.

Broncos reporter Andrew Mason pointed out the prices in a May 14 post on X, writing, “Russell Wilson Broncos jerseys at super-low prices at the Broncos online store,” alongside a screenshot of the clearance listings.

It is a small retail detail, but a very loud symbol.

Wilson arrived in Denver in 2022 as the franchise quarterback the Broncos believed could end their post-Peyton Manning instability. Instead, his two-year run became one of the most disappointing chapters in recent team history, ending with his release in March 2024 and an $85 million dead-money charge spread over the next two seasons. ESPN reported that the Broncos carried $53 million in Wilson dead money in 2024 and another $32 million in 2025.

Russell Wilson Jerseys Are Now a Reminder of the Broncos’ Costly Reset

Clearance jerseys are common after a player leaves a team. The awkward part is the gap between what Wilson was supposed to represent and where his Broncos merchandise now sits.

Denver did not acquire Wilson as a short-term bridge. The Broncos sent a major trade package to the Seattle Seahawks and later signed Wilson to a massive extension. When the partnership collapsed after two seasons, the team had to absorb one of the most significant dead-cap hits in NFL history.

The jersey sale lands differently because Denver has finally moved further into the next phase. ESPN reported in February that the Broncos entered the 2026 offseason largely free of the Wilson dead-money burden, giving the franchise a cleaner cap sheet after two years of working around the cost of the failed deal.

For Broncos fans, that is the bigger point. The bargain-bin jerseys are not just about Wilson. They are a visual reminder that Denver has paid the bill and moved on.

Wilson’s NFL Future Is Also Uncertain

The timing is not especially flattering for Wilson.

The 37-year-old quarterback remains a free agent after spending the 2025 season with the New York Giants. NFL.com reported on May 6 that Wilson was weighing a contract offer from the New York Jets along with a possible opportunity as a television analyst.

Wilson began the 2025 season as the Giants’ starter before being benched after an 0-3 start in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart.

That makes the Broncos jersey clearance feel like another marker in a broader career transition. Wilson is not merely an ex-Broncos quarterback anymore. He is a former franchise star trying to decide whether there is another NFL chapter left.

Broncos Fans Have Already Turned the Page

Wilson’s time in Denver will always be complicated. He was productive in stretches, especially compared with the Broncos’ 2022 offensive collapse, but the partnership never came close to matching the expectations created by the trade and contract.

The Broncos went 11-19 in Wilson’s starts, and Sean Payton benched him late in the 2023 season before the franchise moved on. ESPN noted at the time that the release ended a disappointing chapter for both sides.

Now the remaining inventory is being cleared out at prices more commonly associated with a depth player than a former Super Bowl champion and 10-time Pro Bowler.

For fans, the sale may be funny. For the Broncos, it is a final bit of cleanup from a move that reshaped the franchise. For Wilson, it is an embarrassing reminder that Denver has fully closed the book, and is selling what is left of that era for a few dollars at a time.
