Amon-Ra St. Brown briefly gave the Detroit Lions an injury concern against the Minnesota Vikings. Then he gave them another entry in the NFL record book.

St. Brown reached 600 career receptions during the teams’ Nov. 1 matchup, becoming the fastest player in league history to reach that milestone, according to Detroit’s public relations department. He needed just 90 career games.

The achievement came after St. Brown left following an apparent touchdown that was overturned on replay. He returned with a wrap on his left knee and resumed his role in Detroit’s passing game.

By the time the Lions’ star reached seven catches for 46 yards early in the third quarter, the injury concern had given way to a familiar sight: Jared Goff continuing to look his way.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Reaches 600 Catches in Record Time

St. Brown entered Sunday with 593 career receptions, leaving him seven short of a milestone no NFL player had reached in fewer than 96 games.

Keenan Allen, Antonio Brown and Cooper Kupp shared that previous standard, according to the NFL’s Week 8 milestone preview. St. Brown reached the mark six games sooner.

That is a substantial gap at a milestone built on sustained production. This was not a single explosive afternoon pushing him into the record book. It was another busy game in a career defined by them.

According to Detroit’s official player biography, St. Brown became the only player in NFL history to record at least 90 receptions in each of his first five seasons. He also produced four consecutive 100-catch seasons before entering 2026.

His latest record extends a progression Detroit fans have watched since his rookie year. Heavy previously covered St. Brown’s early reception milestones, when he was joining a small group of receivers with 90 catches in each of their first two seasons.

Now he owns a reception record outright.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Returns After Injury Scare Against Vikings

Earlier in the game, St. Brown appeared to have a touchdown on a pass into the back of the end zone. Replay overturned the ruling, leaving Detroit without the score and its top receiver briefly headed off the field.

St. Brown appeared to hit his head on the turf during the play. He subsequently went to the locker room before returning to the sideline.

As USA TODAY’s Lions Wire reported, St. Brown was shown with a wrap on his left knee and returned when Detroit regained possession early in the second quarter.

The visible wrap did not establish the nature or severity of an injury. His return, however, answered the immediate question about whether he would continue playing against Minnesota.

St. Brown had already been managing an ankle issue entering the matchup. Heavy covered Dan Campbell’s encouraging update on St. Brown earlier in the week.

Sunday’s passing numbers illustrated why his availability carried such weight. With 9:48 remaining in the third quarter, St. Brown accounted for seven of Goff’s 15 completions and had drawn eight of Detroit’s 20 targets.

The overturned touchdown never reached the scoreboard. His 600th catch reached the record book.
