ESPN's latest ranking of the Lions will excite fans.

While Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes continues his offseason work, it appears as though they’ve brought a new face into the fold that fans in the East Lansing, Michigan area should be quite familiar with.

According to multiple reports, the Lions have signed former Michigan State Spartans linebacker Joe Bachie, who most recently played with the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans.

As if that weren’t enough, the Lions have also signed defensive lineman Jay Tufele, who visited with them earlier in the month.

The Detroit Lions Have Signed Former MSU Spartan Joe Bachie

Bachie, who is a native of Brook Park, Ohio, played four years with the Spartans, during which he amassed 285 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, and eight sacks. Additionally, he was a two-time team captain and three-time All-Big Ten selection.

Never drafted into the NFL, he signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2020, and has also spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, and Tennessee Titans.

He’s recorded a pair of 77 tackles and two pass deflections so far in his NFL career.

Jay Tufele, who attended college at USC, was selected in the fourth round, 106th overall, of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’s also played for the Bengals and the New York Jets.

So far in his NFL career, he’s amassed 56 tackles and a single pass deflection.
