The Green Bay Packers have begun making their cuts to reduce to the 53-man roster limit before the NFL’s official deadline on Tuesday afternoon.
Many of the players the Packers waive over the next several hours will include players who had been vying for depth spots on their 2025 roster, but the team might also make a few surprise moves — including injury designations — ahead of the formal deadline.
Here are the live updates for every roster move the Packers have made leading up to the 4 p.m. ET roster cut deadline:
QB Sean Clifford
Clifford didn’t have much of a fighting chance when it came to cracking the Packers‘ two-man quarterback rotation. With Jordan Love and Malik Willis both healthy for the first week of the season, there is no room for a third quarterback; though, Clifford may return to the team’s practice squad as their emergency option for the regular season.

WR Mecole Hardman Jr.
Hardman figured to have a shot at winning the Packers‘ primary return specialist role when he signed with the team in free agency, but the veteran quickly took himself out of the running with two misplayed punts in the team’s preseason opener in early August. He also dropped a pass in the same game, upending his already slim chances of winning a roster spot in the Packers‘ loaded receiver room for the 2025 season.

LB/DB Isaiah Simmons
Simmons generated some buzz when he signed with the Packers earlier this year as a former top-10 pick capable of playing both defensive back and linebacker, but he did not live up to expectations in training camp and failed to carve out a role on special teams, dooming his chances of making the 53-man roster as a rotational defender.
