CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers are expected to hire San Francisco 49ers defensive backs coach Daniel Bullocks.

The shuffling on Matt LaFleur’s Green Bay Packers coaching staff continued at the start of Super Bowl week Monday.

CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported the Packers are “expected to hire” former San Francisco 49ers defensive backs coach Daniel Bullocks.

It’s unclear what Bullocks’s role will be in Green Bay. Zenitz didn’t name a specific job for Bullocks in his report.

Bullocks joined the 49ers for Kyle Shanahan’s first season as head coach in 2017. Bullocks was the team’s assistant defensive backs coach from 2017-18.

He received a promotion in 2019 to defensive backs coach. Bullocks also served as defensive passing game specialist on San Francisco’s staff.

According to Round Table Sports’ Savanah Tujague, the 49ers quietly parted ways with Bullocks this offseason.

Matt LaFleur ‘Expected to Hire’ Daniel Bullocks: Report

The Packers defensive staff is going through a significant transition this offseason because of the departure of defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.

Hafley left to become the next coach of the Miami Dolphins. Joining him on his first Dolphins staff, several Packers defensive assistants left Green Bay as well.

One of those assistants who left was defensive backs coach Ryan Downard.

The Packers also parted with defensive pass game coordinator Derrick Ansley. Zenitz reported Monday the Dallas Cowboys are expected to hire Ansley.

But it’s possible Green Bay has filled those holes with one new assistant — Bobby Babich.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on January 28 the Packers hired Babich as their defensive pass game coordinator/secondary coach. Babich was the Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator the past two years.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see what official job title Bullocks receives from the Packers.

Bullocks played safety in the NFL for the Detroit Lions. From 2006-08, Bullocks appeared in 31 games, starting 22 of them. He posted 169 combined tackles, four pass defenses and three forced fumbles.

The Lions drafted Bullocks at No. 40 overall in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft.

Bullocks began his coaching career at Northern Iowa in 2012. He coached defensive backs for that school and Eastern Michigan from 2012-15 before his first NFL job.

In 2016, he became the Jacksonville Jaguars assistant defensive backs coach.
