The Green Bay Packers have one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL. Jordan Love has shown that over the last few years.

However, the 2026 season is going to be a big test for Love. No longer can the excuse be made that the Packers are young and up-and-coming. The window is officially opened and the team has to figure out how to bring a championship back home to Lambeau Field.

During NFL free agency, Green Bay saw wide receiver Romeo Doubs leave town to sign with the New England Patriots. Doubs had become arguably Love’s favorite target. Losing him was a tough blow for the offense.

So far, the Packers haven’t done anything to replace Doubs. That could be something Brian Gutekunst and the front office looks into during the 2026 NFL Draft later this month.

Keeping that in mind, Green Bay has been linked to a potential new weapon for Love.

Packers Linked to Potential Wide Receiver Target Before NFL Draft

According to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Packers are scheduled to have a top-30 visit with Georgia State standout wide receiver Ted Hurst.

Schultz also noted that Hurst will meet with the New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs this week as well.

“Source: Georgia State WR Ted Hurst is visiting the Giants, Packers and Chiefs this week,” Schultz wrote on X. “The 6-4, 206-pound Hurst – who recently visited the Falcons, Saints, Dolphins, Colts and Vikings – clocked a 4.42 40 with an impressive 11-2 broad jump. He is a likely 2nd-round pick.”

Hurst is not the only wide receiver Green Bay has shown preliminary interest in ahead of the draft. The Packers have also had visits with East Carolina’s Anthony Smith and Tennessee’s Chris Brazzell II.

What Would Ted Hurst Bring to the Green Bay Offense?

Standing in at 6-foot-4 and 206 pounds, Hurst possesses elite size, speed, and athleticism. In fact, he has received comparisons to a couple of names familiar to Green Bay fans.

The Ringer’s Todd McShay offered an intriguing overview about what Hurst brings to the field.

“Hurst shares many similarities with Christian Watson and Marquez Valdes-Scantling when they entered the draft. The NFL will be a real transition from the level of competition Hurst faced in college, and teams will bet on his long-term upside as a big-play perimeter receiver who is equally dangerous after the catch,” McShay wrote. “As a rookie, the expectation should probably be for Hurst to serve as a No. 4 receiver who works his way up to having a starting role in a three-receiver package.”

Hurst is coming off of a 2025 season at Georgia State where he caught 71 passes for 1,004 yards and six touchdowns. Back in 2024, he racked up 56 receptions for 961 yards and nine scores.

There is no denying the raw potential the wide receiver possesses. If he reaches his ceiling in the NFL, he has true star talent. However, any team that takes him will be taking a gamble on that potential development becoming a reality.

Keep an eye on Hurst as a potential target for the Packers, especially with the team only having two wide receivers under contract past the 2026 season.
