NFL veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas reacted to potentially re-joining the Green Bay Packers this offseason.

Veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas remains an unrestricted free agent this offseason. He potentially has a few different NFL teams interested in his services, but he appears intrigued at a possible reunion with the Green Bay Packers.

When Packers Report’s Easton Butler asked Douglas if he would want to be back in Green Bay next season, Douglas called the Packers “home.”

Douglas spent parts of three seasons with the Packers from 2021-23. Green Bay traded the veteran cornerback to the Buffalo Bills at the 2023 NFL trade deadline.

Over the past two and a half seasons, he’s played for the Bills and Miami Dolphins. But Douglas’s 28 starts with the Packers remains the most he’s made with one NFL team.

Could Rasul Douglas Return to Packers in 2026?

Butler reported the Packers are one of a few different teams expressing interest in Douglas this offseason. No other NFL insider, though, has confirmed or denied that report.

Douglas could be a candidate to return to Green Bay to give the Packers more experienced depth at cornerback.

Green Bay, though, did sign cornerback Benjamin St-Juste during NFL free agency. Then in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Packers picked cornerback Brandon Cisse with their first selection at No. 52 overall. On Day 3, the team then added cornerback Domani Jackson at No. 201 overall.

The last thing the Packers probably want to do is block one of their young defensive back’s development.

But bringing back Douglas potentially makes Green Bay better this season, which is something the team should want to do. In 2026, the Packers will be aiming to end their three-game playoff losing streak.

During 2025, the Packers finished 11th in pass defense. They were above average in most categories against the pass, but Green Bay’s defense only had seven interceptions. That was ranked 28th in the league.

Douglas has posted 21 interceptions in his NFL career. He recorded a career-high five picks with the Packers during 2021. Douglas returned two of those interceptions for touchdowns.

During 2023, he also had five interceptions — one with Green Bay and four with Buffalo.

Douglas began his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. The NFC East team selected Douglas at No. 99 overall during the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He played more games with the Eagles than Packers, but Douglas started more contests in Green Bay.

In 135 games, Douglas has 503 combined tackles, including 25 tackles for loss. He has also registered 92 pass defenses and three sacks with his 21 interceptions.

Packers Offseason Depth at Cornerback

Green Bay added Cisse, St-Juste and Jackson to fill out their cornerback depth behind starters Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine.

Nixon played 90% of the team’s defensive snaps during 2025. Valentine played less on the opposite side, but he still lined up for nearly 70% of Green Bay’s snaps on defense.

The only other cornerback who played more than 10% of the team’s defensive snaps in 2025 was veteran Nate Hobbs. In NFL free agency, Hobbs signed with the San Francisco 49ers, but the Packers replaced him with Cisse, St-Juste and Jackson.

Again, Douglas would bring more veteran experience. However, those cornerbacks offer more long term upside.

NFL teams can’t really have enough cornerback depth. But given their cornerback depth, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Packers aren’t super serious about a Douglas reunion at the moment.
