The Green Bay Packers are gearing up to face the Chicago Bears in a big-time Wild Card round divisional matchup.
The Packers are currently a small, -2 favorites against the NFC North division winners in Saturday night’s game at Soldier Field.
However, Green Bay will have to without their best offensive lineman, Zach Tom, who has been ruled out of this weekend’s playoff matchup.
“Packers inactives:” reported The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman, on Saturday afternoon.
“Zach Tom
Desmond Ridder (emergency QB3)”
Zach Tom Ruled Out Despite Prior Encouraging Signs
This news will certainly come as an unwelcome shock to both the Packers fans and coaching staff, who were hoping that Tom would be available to play.
Indeed, the ruling is somewhat at odds with the information coming out earlier on in the week, when it was reported that the Packers’ right tackle was expected to play.
“LaFleur indicated Tom would’ve played last Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings had there been something at stake,” Schneidman wrote on Tuesday, “but the Packers rested a handful of key players with the No. 7 seed already secured.”
