After being in a position battle throughout training camp, quarterback Daniel Jones has led the Indianapolis Colts to an undefeated record after three weeks.
Jones has the third most passing yards in the league, tied for third in most rushing touchdowns and has led Indy to their first 3-0 start since 2009.
The Colts are currently averaging 34.3 points per game this season, tied with the Detroit Lions for the second-highest points per game this season and behind the Baltimore Ravens, both Super Bowl contenders.
Jones’ performances so far this season have given the Colts organization and fan base hope of making the playoffs after a promising start. One NFL writer believes the quarterback has put himself in contention for an award this season.
Daniel Jones MVP Candidate?

FanSided’s Jake Beckman listed five darkhorse MVP candidates, who aren’t any of the players who were heavily considered, using DraftKings SportsBook odds.
The first player to have the highest odds is Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones, who is at +8000 odds.
Daniel Jones could be the NFL MVP. It all begins with an apparent statement of fact: the Indianapolis Colts are, at a minimum, a good football team, and they have the chance to be a really, really good football team,” Beckman wrote.
Beckman credits most of the players’ chances of winning the MVP to their respective teams’ strength of schedule.
“So far, they’ve played the Dolphins, the Broncos, and the Titans. Good football teams beat bad football teams, and really good football teams embarrass bad football teams. The Colts embarrassed the Dolphins and the Titans, and snuck a win past the (maybe) good Broncos,” Beckman continued.
The Colts really only have a handful of tough games left on their schedule… You don’t have to look hard to find 10 more wins for Indianapolis. A 13-4 record can be enough to get the top seed in an AFC that’s cannibalizing itself.”
Can Jones Continues His Performances?

Despite the Indianapolis Colts starting the 2025 season with a 3-0 record, the teams they’ve beaten aren’t the best.
The first three opponents for the Colts have a record of 1-8. The Denver Broncos are the only Colts opponent to pick up a win this season, against the Titans, one of Indy’s opponents this season.
Indianapolis will have its first true competition in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams, who have a record of 2-1 (and could have been 3-0).
If Daniel Jones can continue his performances against the Rams, who are seen as one of the best teams in the NFC and Super Bowl contenders, then the quarterback has the chance to cement himself in the MVP discussion this season.
