Philip Rivers and wife Tiffany Rivers have 10 kids.

Philip Rivers‘ wife Tiffany Rivers is anxiously watching his NFL return as an understandably concerned mother of the couple’s 10 children. The Indianapolis Colts quarterback made his surprising NFL return at age 44 after retiring nearly five years ago.

Philip admitted that his wife Tiffany is concerned for his health after the long layoff.

“My wife has been my biggest fan the whole time I played, and she’s nervous about the physical aspect of it, as you expect any wife to,” Philip admitted to reporters following the quarterback’s return to the NFL, per Yahoo Sports. “… I mean, for 250 games or whatever it was, that was a risk, as you see every week.

“… Dudes are big and fast, just like they were, so I’m just taking it one day at a time. You never hope or expect something like that to happen, but shoot, if something like that happens, I’d have a long time to recover.”

Here’s what you need to know about the Rivers family.

Philip & Tiffany Rivers’ 10 Kids’ Ages Range From 23 to 2 Years Old

Philip is motivated to prove something to the couple’s 10 kids amid his improbable NFL return. After making his first NFL start since January 3, 2021, the emotional quarterback pointed to wanting to make his sons proud.

“Hopefully, my sons and those ball players that I’m in charge of at the school, they’ll say like, ‘Crap, coach wasn’t scared,'” Philip explained, per People.com.

The couple’s kids have a wide range of ages from their oldest daughter Halle (23) to their youngest son Andrew (2). Additionally, Philip and Tiffany are the proud parents of the following kids: Caroline (20), Grace (19), Gunner (17), Sarah (15), Peter (14), Rebecca (12), Clare (10) and Anna (6).

At 44 Years Old, Philip Rivers Is the Rare Grandfather to Play in the NFL

Philip became the oldest active NFL player but does not hold the record. George Blanda played at 48, a record that appears to be safe.

The quarterback becomes the rare grandfather to play in the NFL. Tiffany and Philip became grandparents in 2024. Philip and former NFL quarterback Brett Favre are just two of several players who played in the league as a grandfather.

Philip Rivers & Wife Tiffany Get 5 Additional Years of Healthcare for Their Kids Thanks to the Colts QB’s NFL Return

Philip’s wife may be concerned, but the quarterback’s return to the NFL helped the entire family. The Rivers family now gets an additional five years of healthcare coverage.

“He takes a deal to join the Colts’ practice squad, which officially delays his current Hall of Fame chances but also resets his NFL health insurance,” ESPN’s Ryan Hockensmith wrote in a December 22, 2025, story titled, “Inside Philip Rivers’ startling NFL comeback.”

“NFL coverage typically cuts off five years after a player’s last game. For a guy with 10 kids, he’ll take another half a decade of free healthcare.”

Philip Rivers’ Wife Tiffany Is Supportive of the 44-Year-Old Quarterback Playing in the NFL

Tiffany may have had some concerns about Philip’s health, but overall the quarterback’s wife is supportive of his historic return. The couple have experienced a lot of life together as Philip and Tiffany got married in 2001.

“His coaches and players are all-in from the get-go, and his wife, Tiffany, and family are supportive,” Hockensmith detailed on Philip’s decision to end his retirement. “His wife is worried about the potential for injury. But she knows playing football still gnaws at her husband. Rivers jokes around about how in retirement, he’d sometimes tell Tiffany, ‘I kind of miss getting hit.’

“‘You’re not normal,’ she always replies.”
