egular season football is right around the corner. Each and every NFL franchise has trimmed their rosters down to 53, shifting gears onto preparing for their Week One matchups and starting their quest to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in February. For the Jacksonville Jaguars, a return to the postseason after a two season absence is the top priority.

The Jaguars roster this year features a lot of the same core guys that have been there in recent seasons, but it also has a lot of new faces that are ready to prove themselves– none more notable than rookie sensation, Travis Hunter. And with the rosters now set and the Jaguars getting ready for the 17-game regular season, Yahoo Sports predicted the team’s depth chart heading into Week One.

Yahoo’s Depth Chart Prediction

Below is the full prediction from Yahoo, with them going position by position and predicting the starters at each one. Running back was one of the more interesting predictions, with Yahoo listing both Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby as co-starters.

The biggest surprise from the prediction is Yahoo’s view on Hunter. The No. 2 overall pick, Hunter has expressed his desire to be a full-time two-way starter in the NFL and continue to do what has made him such a household name. And while Hunter will see action at both receiver and corner, he is not listed as the top guy at either spot to start things off. But as is the case with most rookies, good performances at practice combined with good game outings will propel him up the depth chart as the season progresses.

Can the Jags Find Success in 2025?

The Jaguars have a lot at stake this season, and are determined to not waste any time. Bringing in a new head coach in Liam Coen and a new general manager in James Gladstone, a new era of football in Jacksonville is set to take flight this season– one that the new regime hopes ends in a deep playoff run this season.

But before the Jaguars can think playoffs, they first must figure out how to utilize their new pieces. Hunter provides a challenge in himself given his two-way abilities, but the Jaguars also brought in a lot of other pieces to pair with Hunter, such as running back Bhayshul Tuten and wide receiver Dyami Brown on offense, while defensively, players such as Jack Kiser, Emmanuel Ogbah and others join the mix.
