Just before Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce proposed to Taylor Swift, the pop star appeared on his “New Heights” podcast.
Swift’s appearance nearly broke the Internet, setting a new Guinness World Record for most concurrent views (1.3 million) for a podcast on YouTube. During the show, Swift detailed her relationship with Kelce, how the couple fell in love, and the viral way they first met.
The 14-Grammy winner started dating Kelce after he lamented not being able to give the singer his number on a friendship bracelet after seeing the “Eras Tour” in Kansas City two years ago.
“When you guys did the full send on the podcast, and he was like, ‘You wanna date me?’ And everybody heard it, it was the ‘shooting your shot heard ‘round the world,'” Swift recalled. “Basically, everyone who likes you, which is a lot of people, started reaching out to everyone who knows me.”
As it turns out, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was one of those people. “I think it was like Andy was vouching, I think it was my relatives, my cousins, they were like, ‘Please, please, please, he’s amazing,’” Swift revealed.
“There were friends who were like, ‘He’s actually an amazing guy, he’s so great.’ There was a lot of kind of people whispering in my ear about you. Actually, that’s not normal. There are people just willing to go to bat for you. ‘You don’t understand this guy’s incredible.’”
Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid Said ‘It’s Not Easy’ To Find Someone You Love Like Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift
Speaking to reporters on Friday, August 29, Reid addressed his superstar tight end’s engagement to Swift. “I’m happy for them,” Reid said.
“It’s hard to find someone that you fall in love with. That’s not an easy thing, to really fall in love. It seems like they’re there, and it’s a great deal for both of them. They like being around each other. That’s a plus, I think. They’re both busy people in their own right.
“They’re both very famous in their own right. It’s neat that they come together and handle themselves the way that they do.”

Reid first became friendly with Swift and her father, Scott Swift, during his previous tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles over a decade ago.
“He’s been friends with my dad,” Swift said. “My dad is the most social man who’s ever been born. He’s just a maniac. He would make a friend in an airport in 1971, have a five-minute conversation and still be talking to that dude twice a week, now.
“But he’s like that with everyone he meets. He’s able to have very many, very meaningful relationships. It’s a skill.
“So, he knows Andy, and Andy’s been coming to shows for years and stuff like that. So, I’ve always had a really positive vibe about Andy Reid. I didn’t really know what the sports thing he was doing but I knew that was my dad’s friend Andy Reid. I now know he’s the most iconic, legendary coach of all time.”
