Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes returned to Instagram this week while the franchise navigates a turbulent offseason.

Mahomes shared a photo on March 5 showing himself celebrating on the field. The post included his signature alarm clock emoji.

His wife, Brittany Mahomes, quickly responded in the comments.

“My boyyyyyy,” Brittany wrote, adding heart-eyes, fire, and clapping emojis.

Mahomes often posts the alarm clock emoji as a rallying message for Chiefs Kingdom. While the post did not include additional context, fans speculated it could reference progress in his rehabilitation after a major knee injury.

The quarterback has largely remained quiet on social media as he continues recovering from surgery.

Patrick Mahomes Shares Rehab Update After ACL Surgery

Mahomes suffered a season-ending injury during the Chiefs’ Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on December 14.

The quarterback tore the ACL in his left knee after being tackled from behind late in the fourth quarter while attempting to extend a drive. An MRI later confirmed the injury, and Mahomes underwent surgery the following day.

Mahomes spoke publicly about the injury once during a January 15 media appearance, where he shared an update on his recovery.

“Rehab is going great so far,” Mahomes said. “I’ve been doing all of it here in Kansas City, and [Assistant Athletic Trainer] Julie [Frymyer] has been crushing it [and] pushing me.”

Mahomes explained that his rehabilitation plan includes clear milestones set by doctors.

“The doctor gives you goals to [reach], and I just try to maximize those,” Mahomes said. “They [have to] hold me back because I always want to go a little bit further, so it’s been going great.”

Mahomes has since been spotted walking without crutches or a noticeable limp while celebrating Brittany’s appearance in the “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.”

Kansas City Chiefs Trade Trent McDuffie During Offseason

The Chiefs also made major roster news during the offseason when the team traded All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie.

Kansas City sent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for four draft picks: a 2026 first-round pick (No. 29 overall), a 2026 fifth-round pick, a 2026 sixth-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick.

McDuffie had been a key defensive contributor since the Chiefs selected him in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

During four seasons with Kansas City, McDuffie recorded three interceptions, 34 passes defended and 246 tackles across 56 starts.

Mahomes reacted to the trade shortly after it became public, posting a brief message on X.

“Damn..,” Mahomes wrote.

The move signals a shift in roster strategy as Kansas City prepares for the 2026 season.

Patrick Mahomes Restaurant Faces Trademark Dispute

Mahomes also appeared in headlines due to a legal dispute involving a Kansas City restaurant he co-owns with teammate Travis Kelce.

According to court documents obtained by KMBC.com, a federal judge denied an emergency request to temporarily shut down the restaurant associated with the brand “1587.”

The lawsuit was filed by 1587 Sneakers Inc., which claims trademark rights to the name and alleges that the restaurant and clothing line “1587 PRIME” infringes on its brand.

The request sought to immediately block the defendants from advertising or selling products using the name.

U.S. District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald declined to grant the request.

The judge said the complaint did not clearly establish that the New York court had jurisdiction over the defendants and noted what the court described as a “significant delay” in requesting emergency relief.

The ruling does not dismiss the lawsuit. The court stated that future motions could be considered once the defendants are properly served and jurisdiction issues are resolved.
