Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs are deep in wedding planning, plus the imminent Travis Kelce retirement decision is up ahead, but amid all of that, Swift continues to make waves in the music industry.
Swift continues to release new singles off her 12th studio album, “Life of a Showgirl,” which arrived in October 2025, and the record marks her longest-running No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Swift also continues to release new singles off the album, and her latest will be the song “Elizabeth Taylor,” which heads to radio on March 10.
But, it’s difficult to stay on top all the time, and even Swift has fallen this week. Amid the excitement of her upcoming wedding with Kelce and album milestones, Swift also received some bad news.
Taylor Swift Falls Short as New Single Off ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Emerges
“The Life of a Showgirl” is a special album, and it’s received plenty of accolades. In a review of the album for The Yale Review, Stephanie Burt says that with this album, Swift “made a work of retrospection. She’s reflecting on her life as musician, friend, former teenager, performer, top-selling brand, thirtysomething woman who dates men, and one of the world’s most observed human beings.”
She adds that the album is “eclectic, a mix of styles, with something to tell and some way to disappoint, everyone.”
But, Swift isn’t No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 right now. Perhaps that will change when “Elizabeth Taylor” hits radio, but for now, Alex Warren is No. 1 with his single, “Ordinary.” The song dropped back in February 2025, but it’s getting a significant boost right now.
“Ordinary” has really propelled Warren. He was up for Best New Artist at the 2026 Grammy Awards, and even though the award went to Olivia Dean, the nomination enabled him to perform during the show in front of viewers.
So, “Ordinary” is at the top spot on the Adult Contemporary chart, published and researched on by Billboard, and Swift is right behind it with “The Fate of Ophelia.” For now, “The Fate of Ophelia” hasn’t ever made it to No. 1 on the chart.
Good News for Taylor Swift’s ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ Single
But, even if Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” never going to the top of the Adult Contemporary chart, the singer has no reason to be sad. On February 26, her single “Opalite” rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, according to a report from Billboard, marking her 14th chart-topper on that roster.
“The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data,” according to Billboard, “the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations.”
Plus, now that Swift is releasing yet another single off the album, “Elizabeth Taylor,” it’s likely she’ll get another No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, if this single follows the path of her previous two. So, there’s no reason for tears in Swift’s camp.
