Swift has been a regular at the Chiefs‘ home games, so it’s pretty unexpected when she misses an event at Arrowhead Stadium. But, that’s not the case with away games, and Sunday as no exception. Swift was missing in action, as they say, at Sunday’s game, and a report explains why.
Swift attended Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs’ home game against the Philadelphia Eagles last week, but she wasn’t at the Giants game on Sunday. Elle notes in an Sunday, September 21 piece that “Swift has property in nearby New York City,” and perhaps that’s why some probably thought she’d be there. But, it’s more complicated than that.

For someone as high-profile as Swift, there are always security issues, and that’s even more the case at away games. “Swift missing Kelce’s away games isn’t unusual,” Alyssa Bailey of Elle notes. “She didn’t attend any all last season.”
The reason for that is apparently security. Last fall, a source told Page Six that she had only been going to Arrowhead Stadium games for security reasons, stating, “She’s not going anywhere unless she knows the venue intimately, and it has been thoroughly scouted and secured in advance.”
So, Swift is likely staying home because of worrying about security, and it’s hard to blame her. Hopefully she can give the Chiefs some good luck from afar. Kelce has also made Swift discover and enjoy watching football.
She’s likely watching, because Kelce has told GQ magazine that “I sort of made her a football fan. She is the most engulfed fan now. She knows what the injury reports look like. She understands what special situations are, third and short—all these things because she just naturally loves to hear about my job.”
Taylor Swift Was Under Extra Security at Chiefs vs. Eagles
Even at last weekend’s home game, Swift had extra security. She sat behind a barrier that was “a bullet-resistant portable shield partition that retails for about $6,000,” according to a report from TMZ, which was published on Monday, September 15. TMZ also noted that Swifties thought “Taylor kept an extremely low profile at Sunday’s game between Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles” and “was behind a bulletproof barrier that was seen rolling through the bowels of Arrowhead Stadium in K.C.
The Sun also reported that Swift “hid behind a 7ft “bulletproof” screen on her way to see her fiancé play American football at the weekend.”
So, if Swift is taking these extra security precautions even at Arrowhead Stadium, it would make sense that she would want to play it safe at away games. She’s also gearing up for an album release for “The Life of a Showgirl” on October 3.
