The Las Vegas Raiders might be rolling with what they have at the wideout position. In the summer, the Silver and Black didn’t opt to sign a veteran wideout, with Deebo Samuel and Stefon Diggs among the names in the speculation.
Nonetheless, Samuel would return to the San Francisco 49ers while Stefon Diggs is reportedly heading to the Washington Commanders. Despite the Raiders not pursuing those two players, one NFL insider still believes Las Vegas should consider signing a veteran wideout.
Dan Graziano of ESPN appeared on the Raiders’ YouTube channel and said he would like to see the team improve at wideout before the start of the 2026 NFL season. Moreover, he even floated one name that would make sense for Las Vegas.
“Keenan Allen has proven to be somebody that has been very beneficial to Justin Herbert in his first year, a Caleb Williams in Chicago—young quarterbacks kind of,” Graziano said in an Aug. 6 video on the Raiders’ YouTube channel.
“He seems like if he’s got something left, he’d be a good fit in a place like this with a young receiver group that could learn from him and a young quarterback that you’re trying to bring along that could also benefit from having him on the field. So, that would make a lot of sense.”
Keenan Allen Might Be Waiting to See All His Options
Last season, Allen played 494 passing snaps, leading to a 77.6 overall PFF grade. Moreover, the veteran wide receiver hauled in 81 receptions on 118 targets for 777 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Allen also averaged 9.6 yards per reception and generated 237 yards after the catch.
While Graziano believes the former Los Angeles Chargers star makes sense for the Raiders, he did note that the wideout might be playing the waiting game about where he would like to play this 2026 season.
“Keenan Allen would make sense [for the Raiders],” Graziano added. “I don’t know his story, like if he’s waiting for an opportunity with a team he would identify as a Super Bowl contender.
“I don’t know whether it’s a lot of these veterans, as I’m sure you know, aren’t overly eager to get to training camp from the very beginning. So yeah, he’s still out there, and I think that would be interesting.”
Could the Raiders Look at Potential Trade Options?
Although the Raiders could dive into the veteran wideout market in free agency, might the team want to explore potential trade options? FanSided’s Wynston Wilcox has the Raiders as a landing spot for Jacksonville Jaguars’ Brian Thomas Jr.
“Jacksonville hasn’t really shown interest in trading Brian Thomas Jr., despite his drop-off in the 2025 season,” Wilcox wrote in an Aug. 5 article. “For the right price, though, Las Vegas could have Fernando Mendoza’s favorite target in waiting.
“The Raiders need to add a lot of weapons to this offense. Though Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers are solid options to have, they need some true receiver threats and Thomas could be that for them.”
Last season for the Jaguars, Thomas played 500 pass snaps and earned a 65.5 overall PFF grade. Moreover, the wideout hauled in 48 receptions on 88 targets for 707 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Thomas also averaged 14.7 yards per reception and generated 170 yards after the catch.
